Keep getting the most from your apps

In this digital day and age, you’ve most definitely got a lot of apps installed on your devices. In fact, we bet you even have some you no longer use! With so much going on, regular reminders to update all these apps can become yet another distraction and sometimes even a nuisance.

Why do I receive so many reminders to update my apps?

Technology is constantly evolving and so app developers are continually working to provide you the best experience possible. An update may be something routine such as small bug fixes or general improvements. However some may include bigger improvements based on suggestions from real customer feedback (at Qustodio we listen to what you have to say!). Sometimes updates even contain exciting new features for you to enjoy.

Remove the distractions and stay up-to-date

To really get the most out of your apps, we can’t stress how important it is to keep them updated to the latest version. However, we do realize these constant reminders can become a bit of a pain. That’s why we recommend enabling automatic updates. It’s simple, available on Android and iOS devices, and once you set it up you won’t have to do anything else, except enjoy your apps at their best!

How to configure automatic updates on your and your kids’ devices

Whether you are using an Android or iOS device, we’ve got you covered. Just follow our 5 simple steps below.

How to set up automatic updates on an Android device:

1. Open the Play Store app on your device.

2. Tap the menu in the search bar (three horizontal lines or ‘hamburger’, as it’s sometimes called).

3. Tap Settings.

4. Tap Auto-update apps. Choose whether you want apps to update over your network (which will use data) or over Wi-Fi (which means apps will only update automatically when your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network).

5. Tap Done.

How to set up automatic updates on an iOS device:

1. Open Settings on your device.

2. Tap the Apple ID icon at the top of the menu.

3. Tap iTunes & App Store.

4. Tap Automatic downloads.

5. Enable Updates. Here you can also decide whether updates will download using mobile data or ask the device to prompt you if a download is greater than 200MB, in which case you might prefer to download over a Wi-Fi network.

It’s as simple as that! Now you can be sure you’re not using an older version and enjoy your apps to the fullest.
